Puri Jagannadh, who is known for his Mass masala movies has come back with yet another awesome flick in his career! After so-so films like Temper and Jyothi Lakshmi, he came back strong with the story of ‘Loafer’ which starred upcoming Mega hero Varun Tej, Disha Patani, and Revathi in the lead roles. Let us see how he entertained us with his new release.
Performance:
From his debut movie Mukunda and with his next film Kanche, Varun Tej has never disappointed with his acting skills and with Loafer he has proved that he can do an out an out Mass movie. This is going to be a turning point in his career. It also seems like Varun is very wise in choosing his scripts since he never failed at the box-office up until now. Puri has made an excellent choice by choosing Varun Tej for his role.
Disha Patani, although she is a debutant actress, she has done a role which would bring the potentiality of her as an actress in Telugu Film Industry.
Posani Murali Krishna is yet another actor which everyone should look up on. Being a seasoned actor, with his quirky and funny acting skills as a shrewd father.
The chemistry between Revathi and Varun Tej stole the whole show by performing excellently during those emotional scenes on-screen. Revathi has performed very well and did more than justice to her role as a mother.
Technical Aspects:
The visuals which were shot in Jodhpur were extraordinary and were done in a grand scale. Production values were good in this movie. The charisma, the stature in Varun Tej was brought very intelligently by Puri. As usual, dialogues by Puri Jagan were outstanding and doesn’t seem too much in this movie. Screenplay was pretty good in the whole movie but lagged in second half of the movie.
Music and BGM:
Music and BGM by Sunil Kashyap was not up to the mark in this movie. I haven’t found the relevance between the songs and scenes.
Story and Screenplay:
The story of the film is simple and catchy.
An arrogant father (Posani Murali Krishna) who is shrewd and careless separates from his wife(Revathi) and brings his son Raja(Varun Tej) away from her.
Being with his irresponsible father, Raja grows up to be the same irresponsible young man, a Loafer. As time takes its toll, he falls in love with Mouni(Disha Patani) who is intimidated by her own father (Mukesh Rishi). Since he is already deeply in love with her, he tries to rescue Mouni from her father. All these days, he thought he was a motherless child. But, right when starts to rescue Mouni, he discovers that his mother is still alive and is also directly related to Mouni and her problems.
How Raja meets his mother after years of separation? How is his mother related to Mouni? And, how will Raja solve all these problems of rescuing Mouni from her father? This forms the rest of the story.
First half and interval bang was a huge highlight of the movie. All the emotional scenes between Varun Tej and Revathi were extremely good for Telugu audience. After the interval, the second half becomes quite predictable and is nothing new for Telugu audience. You can easily know what would happen in pre-climax and the climax.
Direction:
Well, what can one say about the direction skills of Puri? He has done well as usual. But, he disappoints us with some unnecessary characters which were introduced in the second half just to keep the movie running. Also, I felt like the climax was a bit dragged. But, all the credits go to Puri Jagannadh for extracting the acting skills from the young star Varun Tej. I’m sure with this movie, Varun would become another Mega Hero and will come to limelight very soon!
Verdict:
You have to watch this movie for the excellent performance given by Varun Tej. This flick is going to be the biggest turning point in his career and I’m sure he would get more fans with this movie. But, don’t expect for a different story. It is sure an emotional movie which tells about the great bond between mother and son. A real family entertainer and mass audience would love this movie.
